Happy Friday! It's a beautiful day to open a Black-owned and operated bank! 🏦

"When people #BankBlack the result is better circulation of Black dollars with Black businesses, the creation of more jobs for the Black community, more access to affordable home loans, education for urban communities on financial literacy, and most importantly, the power of the Black dollar is increased. When focused on improving our neighborhoods, communities, and supporting other Black owned businesses, those dollars become a powerful voice. A voice we so desperately need today". - OneUnited Bank

"Buying black” and “banking black” are two essential pieces to see a brighter economic future for Black America." - banks.com

We are inspired by Because of Them We Can by Eunique Jones BHM Challenge and the #bankblack movement.

Today we are spotlighting the Academy Award winning short film and New York Times Children's Best Seller book Hair Love!

Matthew A. Cherry's Hair Love tells the story of an African-American father named Stephen, his daughter, Zuri, and the journey of doing her hair for the first time. The piece promotes self love and hair positivity, exemplifies authentic representation, and aims to inspire young men and women of color.

"Through this project, it is my hope that we can show a positive image of black fathers and their daughters, while encouraging natural hair and self-love throughout the world through the animated space."
- Writer, Director, and Producer Matthew A. Cherry
